Dual Containment System
for Zero Emissions

A standard pump relies on a pressurized double seal to protect the environment. A seal failure can depressurize the barrier fluid system allowing hazardous liquid or gas to leak to the environment.

With the Lawrence Zero-emission slurry pump's dual containment system, a sudden loss in barrier fluid pressure will not compromise the safety of the unit. Plant personnel and the environment are still completely protected by the canned motor's internal liner and external pressure containing shell.

Motor Electrical Elements Fully Protected

High strength, Hastelloy C276 liners (cans) protect the stator and rotor of the motor. The Hastelloy C276 offers excellent corrosion resistance and has superior strength and electrical characteristics.
Process Slurry Isolated from the Motor
The Lawrence Zero-emission design segregates the motor from the process fluid by using a slurry seal. The process liquid, with its abrasives and slurry, cannot penetrate the lapped seal faces. The seal is located close to a support bearing to keep shaft deflection at the seal faces to less than .002” providing a stable environment for the seal faces. The large bore seal chamber vents any gas away from the seal faces and prevents any solids from packing the area around the seal faces.

Pressurized Barrier Fluid System

The Lawrence Zero-emission Slurry Pump optimizes the life of the seal and the motor by providing a positive barrier fluid pressure in the motor to prevent the migration of any process fluid and/or abrasives into the seal faces.
