Design Features
FLS-6000 Slurry Pump

The FLS-6000 pump is a horizontal, centerline supported, overhung shaft, single stage radially split case slurry pump that has been designed and manufactured to meet the intent of API standard 610, 9th edition. The mechanical seals and API seal support systems fully comply with API 682, 2nd edition. The design features that make the FLS-6000 slurry pump unique are outlined below:

1) Repelling Vanes on the shrouds of the slurry impeller create a pump out action that reduces leakage from the volute back to the pump suction and keeps the particles from the seal. These repelling vanes remain effective over the life of the impeller, improving the average pump efficiency over the extended operating life.

2) Radial Seal Ring on the front shroud of the impeller creates a dam to isolate the pump suction from the high volute pressure. The pressure drop across this sealing dam is minimized by the pump out action of the repelling vanes. The radial sealing ring clearance may be adjusted at any time to compensate for wear.
3) Replaceable Metal Liners contain the high velocity slurry and protect the API pressure retaining shell of the pump from erosive wear. The cast liners are available in a wide range of erosion and/or corrosion resistant materials to meet most application requirements.
  • High Chromium White Irons
  • Austenitic and Super Austenitic Stainless Steels
  • Martensitic Stainless Steels
  • Nickel Base Alloys
  • Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steels
4) Pressure Casings are designed per the ASME code for the temperature and pressure of the application and are centerline supported.

5) Mechanical Fastening of the Liners allows highly abrasion resistant high chrome iron materials to be used at elevated temperatures within a steel or stainless steel pressure containing shell.
Mechanical Seal - Cartridge6) Mechanical Seals are available in a cartridge canister design to assure the optimum seal environment and simplify installation and removal. Seals are isolated from the process by a bolt in stainless steel labyrinth throat bushing. The seal can be further protected from the process fluid by using an external clean flush.
7) Extended Bearing Frame Design with large diameter shaft provides a longer bearing span for increased rigidity, extending the life of both bearings and mechanical seals.
8) Shafts designed to API-610 and roller element bearings designed with a rating of L10h per ISO 281 of over 50,000 hours to ensure reduced vibration and increased pump reliability.
